Attendance Policy

Attendance Policy

Your appointment is time I have set aside especially for you and attending regularly is important for treatment effectiveness. My office provides automated appointment reminders by email or text. It is very helpful to read the reminders carefully to make sure you and I have the same appointment time on our calendars.

CANCELLATIONS: 24-hour notice is required to cancel an appointment so that I have time to reschedule the slot with another client. You can call, text, or send an email to cancel. Cancellations with less than 24-hour’s notice will incur a $50 late cancellation fee*. An exception may be made in the case of unforeseeable illness or emergency. If we are able to reschedule within three business days this fee may be waived.

NO-SHOWS: If you fail to show up without notifying me, you will be charged the full fee for the session*. Please note that insurance providers will not pay these fees, so you are responsible to pay it yourself before your next therapy session. If you have a credit card on file, it will be charged for this fee unless you contact me the same day to provide other means of payment. Also, if you miss a session and do not contact me within 24 hours after the appointment, any future appointments already on my schedule will be cancelled and you will need to pay the fees and reschedule to resume therapy.

Two no-shows in a row or three no-shows in a 6-month period will render you ineligible to reschedule. More than six cancellations in a 6-month period, whether made in advance or last minute, may render you ineligible to maintain a standing appointment on my schedule, although some exceptions (e.g. in cases of chronic illness) may apply with advance approval.

Late Arrivals: The length of your therapy session is determined by your treatment plan, thus to fully benefit from therapy it is important that you arrive on time if at all possible. If you are late, the session will still end at the time it was scheduled to end so that other patients are not affected by your late start.

I am unable to provide “emergency services.” If you have an urgent concern, I will try to schedule an appointment with you as soon as possible and/or talk by phone. If you are in an emergency situation go to the nearest ER or call 911 first, then try to reach me.
